Employee Job Satisfaction in Latvia

 Aim of the study

To obtain data about the average level of job satisfaction in different companies, industries and Latvia in general, that would enable companies to compare their individual employee satisfaction estimates with the average estimates in Latvia and the specific industry, thus obtaining useful information for decision making about resource allocation.

 

Participants

  • Any company in Latvia
  • Targeted involvement of companies in order to achieve representative samples in industries (at least 5 companies in each industry).

 

Research Method

 

Questionnaire developed by “Eiro Personals”, its structure:

    • 9 dimensions based on the analysis of theoretical literature and most common questionnaires in Latvia and other countries. The importance of the dimensions as well as level of satisfaction is measured.
    • Scale 1-6 (1 – strongly disagree, 6 – strongly agree).
    • One open-ended question.

 Job Satisfaction Dimensions

  • Remuneration – salary, variable pay, additions to salary, benefits.
  • Career – professional development and career growth.
  • Immediate superior – competence and fostering development.
  • Employer image – company development, care about employees, ethics.
  • Work process – bureaucracy, work load, work procedure.
  • Co-workers – relationships and cooperation.
  • The content of work – work tasks, their level of appeal and importance.
  • Exchange of information – internal communication.
  • Work conditions – technical equipment and labour safety.

 

Collection of Data

  • Electronic survey on “Eiro Personals” web-site. Unique identifiers are generated and sent to questionnaire respondents by the system, which ensures that each respondent is able to participate in the survey only one time and simultaneously protects respondents’ anonymity.
  • It’s possible to complete the questionnaire in paper.
  • Latvian and Russian versions available.

Information included in summary:

§ Most problematic job aspects in the company.

§ Most satisfying job aspects in the company.

§ Summary of main differences between sociodemographic groups (structural units, consisting of 10 people at least, previously defined groups of positions etc.)

§ Comparison of company job satisfaction level with average job satisfaction levels in the industry and in Latvia (this information is taken into account by providing recommendations).

 

Information included in recommendations:

§ Analysis of risks and opportunities.

§ Recommendations about a possible action plan, based on conjoint analysis of satisfaction and importance levels (importance map).

§ Recommendations, based on comparison with average results in the industry and in Latvia.
